Her Guided Look
While the mid-thigh ending of the dress shows off her long limbs and the strong collar and details look natural on her dramatic frame, the shape of the dress is less effective at the waist. The billowing adds visual weight that is not naturally there, and the tie sits closer to the hips than the waist, which does not highlight her trim figure or curves as effectively.
The strongest visual definition comes from the crossbody bag and the tension near the lower thigh, which draws the eye horizontally and can make the thighs appear wider.
